About the 1769-SM2

The 1769-SM2 is used with Allen Bradley’s MicroLogix 1500 and1769 CompactLogix family of controllers. The module has Three (3) DSI communication ports to perform data exchange between PowerFlex class 4 and 7 drives. Each port is capable of working in Single and Multi-Drive mode. A single mode channel can support up to Three (3) drives while Multi-drive mode is capable of communicationg Five (5) drives. Multi-drive mode channels can be configured as MODBUS RTU master, enabling connection to 31 MODBUS RTU slave devices. The 1769-SM2 can be as an expansion I/O for MicroLogix 1500, CompactLogix and communication adapters. It supports communication with Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 4 class drives such as PowerFlex 4 drives, PowerFlex 4M drives, PowerFlex 40 drives, PowerFlex 40P drives and PowerFlex 400 drives. PowerFlex class 7 drives can be communicated with using 20-COMM-H RS485 HVAC adapters. The 1769-SM2 can be configured using PowerFlex 4-Class HIM, DriveExplorer (version 3.01 or higher), DriveExecutive stand-alone software (version 4.01 or higher) or bundled with the DriveTools SP suite (version 4.01 or higher), RSNetWorx for DeviceNet, MicroLogix Programming software RSLogix500, CompactLogix Programming software RSLogix5000/Studio5000. Explicit messaging is supported by MicroLogix 1500 LRP series C when used with RSLogix 500 V6.3, CompactLogix Enhanced controllers L31E, L32E and L35E. The 1769-SM2 is capable of configuring user-defined fault actions to determine how the module and connected drives respond to controllers in idle mode (Idle Action). The module has Two (2) colored (Red/Green) status indicators for quick view of the status of the module’s health and communication. The module is powered by the Compact bus.
